Preserve a memory

Save the story behind an item — title, narrative, photos, optional voice note — so the meaning survives whatever you choose to do with the physical object.

Where: Item detail page, and from the Memories tab

When to use it

Use it for items where the story matters more than the object — your grandfather's pocket watch that doesn't run any more, a child's drawing, a ticket stub from a meaningful day. Once the story is preserved, you can choose any outcome for the item itself, including releasing it.

How to use it

  1. 1

Open the item. Tap 'Save as memory'.

  2. 2

Give the memory a title. The item's name is suggested as a starting point.

  3. 3

Write the story (optional). Even a short note matters more than nothing.

  4. 4

Add an associated person if relevant — 'Dad', 'Grandma Rose'.

  5. 5

The item's photos auto-fill as the memory's photos. You can add more or remove them.

If you don't want a visual at all, just remove all photos before saving.

  6. 6

    Tap 'Preserve this memory'.
