Identity attachment
The sense that an item is part of who you are — releasing it feels like releasing a piece of yourself.
Identity attachment shows up most strongly with items connected to past selves: old hobbies, former careers, who you were as a parent or partner. Letting them go can feel like erasing that chapter rather than just shifting the storage of it.
Memory keeper is purpose-built for this. The chapter doesn't end when the item leaves — it just moves into the part of you that holds it.
