Ask someone for input

Send a snapshot of an item to a connected person and let them respond with what they'd like done — without needing the app installed.

Where: Item detail → 'Ask Someone for Input' (or 'Ask {name} about this')

When to use it

When an item belongs to someone else, when you'd like a sibling to confirm before you let go of something from a parent's home, or just when you want a second pair of eyes on a decision that feels heavy.

How to use it

  1. 1

Add the person you want to ask via the Profile → Connected People screen, if they're not already there.

They need the 'Can receive review requests' permission, which is on by default for family members.

  2. 2

Open the item. Tap 'Ask Someone for Input'.

  3. 3

Choose who to ask — the person is preselected if you've already linked the item to them via 'Belongs to'.

  4. 4

Choose the question type: What should I do with this? — Do you want this? — Is it okay if I let this go? — This is yours, what do you want?

  5. 5

Add a short personal note if it helps — context, history, why you're asking now.

  6. 6

    Tap Send Request.

The Ask for input composer with question types and personal note field.

What happens next

  • The recipient gets an email with the item snapshot — photo, description, and your question. They can respond with Keep, Let go, Donate, Collect, Sell, or 'Your call'.
  • Their response flows back to the item in your app. You'll see it on the item detail page.
  • Until they reply, the item shows up in the 'Waiting on others' card on your home tab — gently, with no expectation on you.
